SPDC honours Olympic and world athletics medalist Blessing Okagbare

In support of sport development in Nigeria, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) honoured Olympic and world athletics medalist Blessing Okagbare at a dinner in Lagos hosted by MD SPDC and Country Chair Shell Companies in Nigeria, Mutiu Sunmonu.
SPDC rolled out the red carpet for Olympic and world athletics medalist Blessing Okagbare at a dinner in Lagos hosted by MD and Shell Nigeria Country Chair, Mutiu Sunmonu. Blessing who is the African Champion record holder in 100m, won a silver medal in the long jump and also came third in the women 200m race at the recently concluded 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championship in Moscow.

Mutiu Sunmonu said he was honoured to host a world champion and an Olympian. He commended her for making Nigeria proud. The MD said that SPDC has produced many ‘Blessings’ in the likes of Solomom Okonkwo, Ibrahim Ajani, and Femi Opabunmi through the NNPC/Shell Cup.
Responding, Okagbare recounted her first Olympic experience in Beijing, saying prayers and support of all Nigerians helped her as she prepared and took part in various competitions. She received a plaque from SPDC MD.
President, Athletic Federation of Nigeria, Chief Solomon Ogba, Chairman Technical Support, Athletic Federation of Nigeria, Omatseye Nesiama, Chairman Road Race/ Marathon, Professor Makonju and Kayode Thomas, Chairman Media Committee also attended the event.
